Welcome to the online Rants & Raves column, a rambling, sprawling, sometimes informative and frequently irreverent muse upon computers, software, the web and all manner of other stuff too daft to mention. Rants and Raves is one of the (or quite possible the) longest-running computer-related opinion columns in the UK. Since March 1988 I've written this column originally for Computer Shopper and later for PC Plus magazine. Following (ahem) "editorial and contractual differences" with the current editor and publisher, my final column appeared in the January 2005 edition of PC Plus. From now on, it will continue to appear, unfettered by editorial constraints, here on the web.
